Free-range Kids

For most urban parents, the idea of allowing your children out into the street to play with their friends is an option that disappeared along with free school milk and the three day week. However at Mayrose Farm free-range kids are the norm. Here you can live the idyll not just of a pretty Cornish hamlet but one of 30 years ago.

While parents relax and enjoy the calm of one of our six pretty stone cottages their children can make friends and play outside the old fashioned way. Remember the joy of knocking for your pals? The sense of liberation as you wandered from house to house to your own timetable? Remember fishing for tadpoles and building a den? All still possible for the free-range kids at Mayrose Farm.

Children of all ages love feeding the ducks and lambs, exploring the farm or having a good old kick-about with jumpers for goalposts. Long-lasting friendships form in the fresh air and children sleep soundly; sun-kissed, wind-blown and content.

Ready for Summer Holidays

Lots of spring time happenings...a stoat has been seen, terrorising our chicks. We also are pleased to have new rabbits, guinea pigs, and ducks for our duck pond.

This bank holiday weekend we have a full complement of visitors, the Glamppod being much enjoyed, and the heated swimming pool.

The sheep are very happy to have been sheared.

We have September vacancies and will be delighted to help with any booking queries

What a difference a bit of scrubbing can do.
We are ready for the summer

Our own little helpers have made the pool brilliant

We have also had a superb week of helping hands sourced from Southampton University. Four volunteers have had a weeks working holiday at Mayrose, accommodation and lunch provided, in return half a day of helping us with Spring chores and the rest of the day to play. We all enjoyed it very much and have made new friends. Volunteers for next year please.......

1) Working holiday. We need 4 students for a week at the end of March to help clear and tidy our grounds ready for the start of the season. They will work with David who manages the site. Anything could be asked from painting outside walls to hedge tidying, digging a garden and clearing a small lake. So practical people only need apply.... We will provide accommodation in one of our cottages , also one meal a day, and ask for half a days work for 6 days. The rest of the day is holiday time for walking, surfing, exploring etc. We are a small family run business with a few friendly farm animals, not a working farm.

2) A couple to work here for the summer. Accommodation will be provided in a static caravan on our small camping field. Again work for half a day on general jobs helping us run the 6 cottages, grounds and visitors...
We will also in this case offer some payment. Anyone interested will need to have a car as bus services here are not good. The dates we require are from mid June to mid September. This would give a great opportunity to spend a summer in Cornwall and have lots of time to explore...

Bargain holidays, old fashioned british is best

Mayrose is looking forward to Christmas and New Year holidays and short breaks. Here in Cornwall days are still mild and evenings can be cosy by log fires. I love a walk around the fields, visiting the ducks on the lake and coming back to light the fire with an armful of kindling gathered on my ramblings. A chat to the ducks on the way has helped the relaxation to click in.
Our ambiance , and the type of holidy we are so well appreciated for, are brilliantly described in the Times Travel section this weekend http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/travel/holiday_type/breaks/article5108632.ece .

What a great article to describe all that's brilliant about family holidays in Cornwall . Also that camping is so cool now, we have a site by the swimming pool, and a luxury camping experience, or glamping as some call it, with the described full sized beds in an amazing canvas safari tent, all protected by you own tropical mini eden biome, the Glamppod

Christmas and New Year are nearly here so please get in contact if you have queries over dates etc, we are very flexible and try hard to find you the days you want.
